Austin, TX Courthouse Elopement

The Popes

I felt SO honored to capture this extremely special elopement. It was very near and dear to my heart. One of my best childhood friends, Dayvee was marrying the man of her dreams, Roy. I met Dayvee when I was about 2 years old. We have been great friends, living in different states for 26 YEARS. When she asked me to shoot her wedding in Austin, there was no question about it! The day was calm, carefree and filled with love.

Our day started by getting ready at the beautiful and moody Kimpton Hotel Van Zandt downtown Austin. It was PERFECT for the couples first look on their grand staircase. Dayvee and Roy exchanged letters they had written to one another, giving themselves a very intimate moment between the two of them before getting hitched! We then drove to the courthouse where more family members gathered together to witness  D&R recite their vows. The ceremony was short, sweet, simple and accompanied by the calming sounds of the ukulele, performed by Roy’s brother.

Once Dayvee and Roy tied the knot, we were able to capture some family photos and more of just the couple in this beautiful gazebo just across the street for the courthouse! We then made our way to Mattie’s Restaurant, a unique, rustic old South Austin Farmhouse built in 1916. We stuffed our faces, made some toasts and enjoyed the intimate night filled with close family and friends of the newlyweds.

Cheers to Dayvee and Roy! Thank you for letting my capture your day.
